Standard Music

Discover artists nobody else has heard.

Standard Music is an open-source Mac app that invents whole artists, with backstories, career arcs, voices and discographies, then writes and records their songs on your Mac. Every song is unique to you. It feels like real music because it is.

Free · macOS 26 · Apple silicon

Real recordings

It sounds like real music, because it is.

Every clip here came straight out of the app: songs by bands it invented, written for their story and recorded on a MacBook Pro. There are no samples, no stems and no cloud render.

0artists, albums and songs. It never runs out.
$0per song. No credits, no caps, no subscription.
0copy of each song in the world, until you share it.
0servers your music touches.

Songs are recorded on your Mac for free, as many as you like. Writing artists and lyrics uses the ChatGPT plan you already have.

Open source

Bring your own model.

The music engine is a small program that speaks JSON lines over stdin and stdout. YuE2 on MLX ships built in. Point Settings at any other model and the rest of the app stays the same: your artists, the player and sharing.

  • Private by design. Songs are recorded on your Mac and stay in a SQLite library you own.
  • Your ChatGPT subscription writes. Artists, albums and lyrics are written with the account you already have.
  • Share anything. A .standardalbum file carries the artist, their soul and the recordings. AirDrop it to a friend.
